INTRO
this timeline was taken and reformatted from my txt primer, which can be found on gdocs here. general disclaimer that i'm just one random person compiling information on the internet. while i've done my best to cross-check everything and delineate sources of ambiguity, it's possible that some events have been misconstrued or incorrectly relayed. some dates are also approximations. once again, if anything looks blatantly false and you have sources you'd like to offer, please feel free to leave a comment!!! i am always willing to correct and update information presented.

ARRIVAL ORDER

2014
???: yeonjun is allegedly a cube trainee, notably friends with pentagon wooseok and victon subin [twitter] [tingle interview]. pentagon yeo one also mentions training with him and says that he is like a “cute younger brother” to him [twitter]
2015
march: taehyun attends his middle school entrance ceremony where he allegedly receives 20+ business card offers, but his wording is unclear and he could potentially be talking about his high school entrance ceremony instead (while already a trainee at bighit) [vlive]
october: yeonjun joins bighit after being casted twice: first on social media and then on a bus [200126 vlive] [200619 vlive]. he is a 1st year at bulgok high school, although he eventually transfers to korea art school.
may-september: hueningkai potentially auditions for k-pop star 5 with his older sister lea and fails; this is speculation as we know he got into bighit june 2016 but k-pop star 6 auditions were supposedly only starting at that time [wikipedia], so it’s more realistic that he auditioned 2015. either way, an employee there who is later hired by bighit supposedly remembers him and reaches out with an audition offer [twitter] [twitter] [vlive]
december: soobin sends an email audition to bighit; he is the only member who isn’t streetcasted. he enters the wrong phone number and bighit spends 2 months tracking him down to call him back for auditions [200409 vlive] [200904 vlive]

yeonjun is also friends with ateez wooyoung and yeosang, who have been bighit trainees since 2014, allegedly friends with yuehua's hyungseob, although we don’t know the exact timeline of his training period (just that he was obviously gone by produce s2), and friends with cravity wonjin, who passed bighit's audition april 2015 but joined starship in late 2017. he and wooyoung also greet wonjin and serim at 2020 mama [twitter]

the identity of the 3rd trainee is unknown, but it can be inferred that it wasn’t wooyoung, who said he had "never been on a long flight" when ateez flew to america for dance training circa 2018 [youtube]
2017
february: beomgyu is recruited by bighit during his middle school exams period. he travels from daegu around middle school 3rd year graduation ceremony [twitter] [twitter]
late march: beomgyu officially joins bighit, decides to take gap year. the name “tomorrow x together” is also finalized. [vlive] [twitter] (march 16 is presumably the day he passes the final rounds, but the day he joined could be later)
march: debut group is finalized. no one knows for sure when ateez wooyoung and yeosang leave bighit, but it could realistically be around this time, as they were still in the company in summer 2016 but had left by late 2017 (mixnine). the same goes for cravity wonjin, who auditioned for jyp august 2017 but has otherwise shared little information on how long he spent at bighit. hueningkai has also said that 7 people went through debut evaluations but only 5 made it, so it’s possible that there were only 7 established trainees remaining under bighit at the time. they first went through individual evaluations before txt did a debut evaluation as a group. ateez wooyoung also mentioned that he, yeosang and yeonjun were close because they were the only trainees born in 1999, implying that hyungseob had not trained for long or had left fairly early [vlive]
march: soobin drops out of school once the debut group is finalized. he is the only member to not attend an arts school [twitter]
~mid-2017: the timeline is unclear here, but txt eventually move into their one-room dorm together. in general their training system changes as they are a confirmed lineup, i.e. they no longer have to do monthly evaluations with the other trainees; we also know that enhypen heeseung (who joined early-2017*) trained with txt, and taehyun has talked about being close to him on vlive. however, sunghoon and jay probably do not have any tangible connections to txt, as bighit officially moves buildings from cheonggu building to yangjin plaza around this time, where they have a separate practice room from other trainees [most likely the room with a fully-striped wall], which is why taehyun says he only heeseung well from the 1st building [vlive]

i-land trainees first interviewed march 2020. heeseung’s training period was 3 years 1 month, jay 2 years 11 months, and sunghoon 2 years 1 month, which puts heeseung at february 2017, jay at april 2017, and sunghoon at february 2018. a running theory is that heeseung joined right at the time txt was being formed—not after—but he was such a new trainee he wasn’t being considered for debut then. see enhypen timeline for more information.
2018
february: yeonjun graduates high school—is the only member to have taken the csat
march: beomgyu and taehyun start school at hanlim multi art school; hueningkai attends lila art high.
summer: txt go to la for dance training and live together [talk x today: zero]
october: tomorrow x together trademark is filed (name picked by bang pd)
late 2018 or early 2019: bighit moves again to its 3rd building, from yangjin plaza to mdm tower. all dance practice videos from debut onward take place in this building.
