my jellycat collection!

girlrocksaid i would make this post a few days ago! i have more non-jc plushies too but again this is already enough... as of this post i have 25 plushies + 2 keychains (i forgot to add the cherry charm but it's on my snoopy bag).
i love jellycat but i try to be intentional with what plushies i obtain and to not collect just to collect... well i guess that's a subjective take because by definition i am "collecting" them obviously lol, but i mean that i don't buy things based on value or reflexively spring for whatever catches my eye in a new collection because of buyer's fomo. i've had a few jellycats that i've already downsized / resold / given away, and i have a few currently that i will probably give away to friends as well since i don't really have that much of a connection to them anymore.
1. HOLY GRAIL π
these are my holy grail, my disos, whatever you want to call it... my beloved jellies. obtaining them was an exercise in patience: the riversides and jollipops were obtained thru a mix of mercari secondhand + aus retail stores. strutton was an fao online drop, and then leicester was obtained thru beloved howl and our reciprocal care packages π (i sent him a strutton in return).
idk what it is about the jollipops that make me so enamored with them but they are just sooo cutesy and perfect to me... obviously jollipop cat is my ultimate (cat! purple!) but i love their lil hats and ribbons and they make such a lovely picture together with their rainbow assortment. i also love the riverside rambler collection in general but i think the fox is my favorite of them all... i'm also endeared by the bunny and mole, but i don't have any intentions of getting more atm.
the pigeons are because YOU'VE COME TO ME AT A VERY PIGEON TIME OF MY LIFE. i fucking love pigeons. pigeons are the best birds. i love living in the city and seeing 200 pigeons a day. they're the most adorable and intelligent and charming creechers of all time. and i love how fucking fat the nyc pigeon is. i could look at that thing all day
2. other faves
as you can tell, i love amuseables lol... i do think that jc is going a bit too hard into amuseables and i would say that original animal jcs are always going to be the classiest and "best," but amuseables are charming and fun to collect in their own way, esp because it's easy to connect to many of them thematically. i love boba and hockey and oscar pastry!!! it's simple!
i don't own that many bashfuls but i fell in love with the red panda and needed him. i do like other bashfuls (fawn, kitten, otter) but not enough to want to buy them at reseller prices.
3. cute but not that emotionally invested
in making this post, i'm like you know what... iris is a fav!!! i think it's just hard because there are soooo many jellycat cats but not that many that i actively want to collect. i love iris even though she's not really "relevant" to my cats since they're obviously not siamese cats, but she's just so cute n sits so politely. very charming individual.
i'm also not a huge dragon guy compared to some people (many who take dragon + bashful bunny collecting very seriously) but the sky dragon is definitely my favorite colorway. i got it in-person at a retail store and he charmed me so much when i held him... he must be carried like babie.
i could see myself downsizing the birthday cake tbh. i like the jc cakes but there are so many of them and i'd rather have the china exclusive peach one. i'll sit on it π€
the winter 25 collection was annoyingly overpriced but i do really love the detailing on the snow globe, which is very well-made and has an awesome fuzzy texture. the letter is also charming to me because i love that it has a functional pocket... it's the one collection from the past few drops (summer, halloween, valentines whatever) that i've genuinely enjoyed.
4. downsizing
meh...! these are cute to me still but they just don't spark joy. i have already promised vicky and ricky to two friends so i will gift them eventually (after linting them thoroughly, yes, lychee sheds like crazy and loves walking all over my display shelf). for now that's it but i will continue to ponder...
5. wishlist
there are a few jellycats i would love to have but they're so ridiculously HTF/highly priced by resellers that there's no point in even looking. i don't actually track any jc searches on mercari anymore since finishing my jollipop collection so while i say this is my wishlist, it's not like i'm searching for them... it's just plushies i like in theory.
my all-time DISO is probably morgan mallard but again it's pretty much the most expensive jelly on the resale market, and i don't care That Much. literally no one is ever selling it and if they are then it's 400 dollars like brother π
i was also very attached to tangerine knitten kitten a while (like a year) ago, but i never bit the bullet when it was still reselling for 30-40 usd and now the markup is annoying so i don't want it anymore. i suppose i am passively looking to get it though since it realistically could be listed for an acceptable price at some point...
from upcoming drops/leaks, i want the tea bag once it gets released worldwide. otherwise... meh. i'm still holding out hope for the grey cat that was leaked/teased forever ago to get released...

Date: 2026-01-20 02:21 am (UTC)im an amuseables fan but I admit their newer releases aren't as cute/well designed as the old ones (like the tomatoes or grapes on the vine ugh just the color and shape variety of those collections is so fun!)
also sooo jealous of the Shanghai exclusives I want the berry latte one so bad!

Date: 2026-01-20 02:42 am (UTC)also agreedge that the fabric mixes are so fun. funnily enough this is the main issue i had with the cheri cake from the vday drop that i was considering getting because i love red velvet, but i felt it in store and i hated that the frosting wasn't velvety!!! it felt so cheap and turned me off of it LOL.
are there any upcoming ones that you're considering...

I think i am set for now, normally its just the halloween releases that get me lately!!! im sad they dont do huge dragons anymore bc I was really hoping for a malachy dragon in that size to go w my persimmon but alas...
