2) i said i'd make some sort of music post for 2022 so... here it is. emily this one's for you <3

too lazy to format this introduction properly which is funny because i spent like 20 minutes automating the code for the albums window in a spreadsheet but anyway. [been a long week] [my brain is fried] in short i had an old wip list for my top albums on rym that i started around the end of 2022 but i really lost steam and never went back and properly finished it. i don't want to make the list public on rym when it's still a mess so i basically just pilfered the first 50 albums i had there and decided to redisplay the data on dreamwidth instead... i don't know that i'd confidently say these are my REAL exact top 50 albums from 2022 but i tried my best to identify projects i genuinely enjoyed, even if i get kind of embarrassed making these rankings sometimes because my taste is obviously very specific and subjective and i feel like most of these releases people are of course already deeply familiar with! i'm sorry for contributing nothing of value haha but maybe there'll be something new in there that you enjoy... or maybe it can be fun to revisit a few popular favs T__T

without further ado here are the albums (and eps). i also basically took one track from each album (either my favorite track or just one that i thought fit the vibes) and then added a bunch of other random songs and various singles i liked from 2022 to make a playlist i'll embed at the end. i'm too tired to reflect on anything apologiesssssssss

THANK U FOR MAKING THIS TT___TT as always beautiful formatting and i truly appreciate u putting in the work for people like me :’) i obv rlly loved the skullcrusher + alex g, yeah yeah yeahs, ethel cain, etc. i have the most basic taste ever but some of my other fave albums were why bonnie - 90 in november, orville peck - bronco, yumi zouma - present tense (i was so obsessed with this in the summer for no reason sjxjsjjx i guess bc its just nice easy listening) and ofc my basic korean rock bitches the poles - high tide club ❤️ have been slowly making my way thru your playlist and tbh it will probably take me all of 2023 to get thru the albums since theres so many i havent listened to!!! your taste is so good to me <333 ilysm kaia
